This is the latest book from one of Zimbabwe's established Shona novelists, described by the readers as his best to date. It is set in the Shona ' Old World' but the themes it describes are as timeless as human history. Runako realises from childhood that her beauty is her damnation: Men will always fight for a beautiful woman. Being an individual, Runako learns to accept her terrible beauty - and to survive in a world ruled by men driven mad by an insatiable greed.
