The first part of this text describes the process of writing from the time before a writer even has a subject until the time a writer's formed ideas manifest themselves on paper as words, sentences, and paragraphs.This first part is quite traditional in its form, though it is not always traditional in particular sections. Part Two is an exploration of particular occasions for writing and of particular kinds of writing. Chapter 12 studies the relationships between occasions and the kinds of writing they need or make possible. The remaining chapters of Part Two discuss the possible character and form of letters, reports, arguments, and critical essays.The two chapters of Part Three are intended both for assigned study and for continous reference. Chapter 27 presents some guides, recommended procedures, and standard form for use in research writing. Chapter 18 is brief handbook of grammar, punctuation, and usage.
