Heterodoxy in political economy: from an alternative to the Walrassian model to a synthesis with neo-classical methodology/ created by Hakim Ben Hammouda - Africa development Volume 22, number 2 .

Inspired by the currents of thought from Grenoble and Paris, the regulationist school (1975) analyzes the capitalist system from both a historical and spatial perspective, as an alternative to Walras's theory of general equilibrium. The concepts and approaches implemented are unique and allow an innovative analysis of international economic relations on the one hand, and of the dynamics of growth and the crisis of the capitalist system on the other. Criticized by conventions, close to the new American institutional economy, regulationists are today faced with uncertainties and chaotic economic phenomena forcing them to renew their conventional work tools.
